Beginners and experienced sea anglers are excellently catered for in Cleggan, with the wide Atlantic Ocean at your doorstep! You never know what fish may turn up on any given day, but the variety can be astounding. Record tuna have been caught from here; large ling, codling, skate, monkfish, turbot, blue name it. In season, you will pull several mackeral up on one line. There are a couple of sea angling outfits based in Cleggan, and one is described below; it's a great one, and Johnny King is a really nice guy to do business with!

Kingfisher Sea Angling Charters  is run by Johnny King, a highly experienced seaman and fisherman. Click here for lots of information and contact details (the pic to the right is from Johnny's own website). Johnny also sells fish and shellfish - his crabmeat is extracted and packed locally and is sold widely. You will find him or his staff at the shop beside Cleggan Harbour (just walk a few yards along the small road at the base of the pier), and also at his mobile fish shop outside Super Valu supermarket on Friday mornings. And click here for details of buying fresh fish locally in Cleggan itself. Finally, Johnny and Theresa King offer self-catering accommodation in two beautiful cottages right by Cleggan Harbour - click here to fnd details of "Atlantic View" and "Cleggan Cottage" on our 'Self-catering - Holiday Homes & Cottages' page.
