FUNDRAISER FOR CHILDREN OF TEMPLE STREET UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL & Spiddal Early Intervention Centre

- Remembering Aaron Newman, Cleggan.

NEWMAN'S BAR, CLEGGAN

Well, the craic was indeed mighty, and Richie and Bernie (and Sharon and a host of helpers) laid on a tremendous night, raising thousands of Euro for the Children of Temple Street University Hospital and the Spiddal Early Intervention Centre. It was a fitting tribute to the memory of baby Aaron Newman, and the whole community rallied round and dug deep - indeed, it looked as if the whole of Connemara did!

BUT THIS WASN'T ALL JUST FOR THE CRAIC, THOUGH THERE WAS PLENTY OF THAT ON THE NIGHT! IT WAS FOR A FABULOUS CAUSE, TOO.

RICHIE AND BERNIE TELL US THAT THEIR FUNDRAISER EFFORTS AMOUNTED TO A TREMENDOUS:

*** €11,312 !!! ***

Richie and Bernie are at pains to stress that this was a great effort made by the whole community getting behind the fundraising (even though we know that it wouldn't have happened at all without the Newman family initiative and work). They tell us that shortly there's to be a formal presentation to be made - and that there are some wonderful ideas about how to use this money to great effect.

Thanks to all at Newman's for such a great night, and in aid of such a great cause!  There were loads of musicians - far more than shown in the Gallery below. And Alice dancing on the half-barrel was something special! Below are just a few photos from the night, to give an idea of what it was like: the music, the Big Draw, the auction, the raffle, the dancing, the craic, and the massive support:
