EVENTS IN 2012

Summer-time is the busy time on the Aughrus Peninsula, when it comes to the major events. The weather has improved (usually!); days are longer; visitors and holiday-makers arrive... although there's plenty to be done, between hay-making, fishing, tourism- related activities,

and the like, people are in the mood for partying, participating in sports, and relaxing with others.

So....pretty much all of the one-off events of the year on the Aughrus Peninsula have taken place by now. HOWEVER, there will be more, and we'll try to keep you informed about forthcoming events as they're planned.

ON THIS PAGE, then, we bring you a list of the many events that have taken place already, together

with links to Photo Galleries on this site, to show you the action

- A varied Gallery of photos from ALL the events to date.

- There was a night in a million on FRIDAY 23 November 2012, when

members of the Galway hurling team (sponsored by SUPERMAC) visited Newman's Bar in Cleggan, along with the Leinster Cup which, as EVERYONE knows, Galway won in 2012!  It was a real first for the village, and everyone made the most of it. Richie and Bernie laid on an incredible welcome for everybody; all the kids - of all ages! - from miles around were photographed with the Cup and the hurlers; and a great night was had!

Just click HERE, to be brought straight to an extensive gallery of photos from the night!

30th November 2012:   HARVEST HOPE - A MUSICAL PRESENTATION AND VARIETY CONCERT, presented by Scoil Muire Gan Smal, Claddaghduff - click HERE for a description and extensive photo gallery!

December 2012:  27 young musicians from this and other areas in Connemara took the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM) exams at various grades, and the results were spectacular!  Well done all round, including to Mrs Breda O'Toole, under whose watchful eye the musicians graduated with Distinctions, Honours and Merit grades!  Click HERE for more.
